Boracay, Philippines

Boracay is a dog bone-shaped island, world-famous for its white sand beaches, located off the northwest corner of Panay Island. It is under the jurisdiction of the municipality of Malay, in the province of Aklan, Western Visayas, Philippines but because of sanitation and other tourism-related environmental issues, Boracay had been placed under the jurisdiction of the Philippine tourism and environment agencies at various times during the past two administrations. Boracay remains a popular tourist destination not just for its sugary sand beaches but also for the rest and recreation offered by tourist establishments on the island.
